Southwood Middle School

Chair Massage  (Nov 2004)

Myself and several other massage therapists and health practitioners were invited to be part of Southwood Middle School's Health Day in Miami.  We were able to spend a few minutes helping the school faculty relax and refresh themselves.  It was an honor to be able to support our community educators for they give so much to our city and our children.

Victims Services

Massage

A group of several massage therapists who spend two hours each week giving full body massages to the clients of Victims Services.  The goal is to help integrate the mind, body and soul through regular massage therapy and help the client become more connected to their bodies through healthy touch.

Miami Children's Hospital

Comfort Crew

Weekly visits to the parents and families of the patients in Miami Children's Hospital offering chair massage to help them not only cope with what they are experiencing but to offer stress relief, pain relief and overall relaxation.  There is nothing more rewarding than seeing the fighting spirit in both the parents and the children as they face issues in life that are far removed from most people's daily life.  My heart goes out to these people and I am truly inspired by their courage and their strength.

Innermotion

Chair Massage

Innermotion's performance is to create a social movement which unifies all people in the effort to eradicate child abuse for the purpose of improving the quality of life.  Child abuse is not a fun subject to talk about but it is a very real and personal subject for many people.  It is an honor to help serve those affected by child abuse and those who are trying to help child abuse survivors.

United Way - Day Of Caring

Chair Massage

Students at Stranahan High School were pleasantly surprised when they returned to school on a recent Monday. The previous Friday more than 1,500 volunteers at the United Way of Broward County's annual “Day of Caring” painted and landscaped their Fort Lauderdale campus to show what can be accomplished when the community comes together to support a common cause, in this case providing a nicer place for students to learn and grow.

Juvenile Diabetes Walk

Chair Massage

The Walk to Cure Diabetes is a walkathon held in more than 200 locations throughout the year benefiting the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. More than four hundred thousand men, women, and children-including those from 5,000 large corporations and local companies along with 3,500 family teams-will participate this year. The Walk raised almost $70 million last year for diabetes research.

Girl Scout Fitness Day

Chair Massage

When many people think Girl Scouts, they automatically think ``cookies.''  But Catherine Ferrera and Jaclyn Rera of Girl Scout Troop 103 want to make people think of something else: health and fitness. The two have created a Gold Award project - a sort of graduation for Girl Scouts - that turns the focus from tasty treats to staying in shape.  In an effort to educate parents on how to feed their kids better food and on how to get them started with sports, Jaclyn and Catherine assembled health and fitness lovers to help spread the word.
